1 power cut, 1 day without water, 1 big shopping trip, 1 batch of pasta, 2 batches of brownies, 1 american football game, 1 season of e.r, 1 season of freaks and geeks, lots of conversations, many new friends, many walks along the river, 2 ordered uno pizza, 1 kebap, 1 empty bottle of ‘grandad’ pills, 1 hannah, 1 imogen, 1 slavonski brod, 9 months ahead, and loving it
“…The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7b (NIV)
“So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.”
Galatians 5:1 (NLT)
“The obvious impossibility of carrying out such a moral program should make it plain that no one can sustain a relationship with God that way. The person who lives in right relationship with God does it by embracing what God arranges for him. Doing things for God is the opposite of entering into what God does for you. Habakkuk had it right: “The person who believes God, is set right by...
“You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus was clearly portrayed as crucified. I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort? Have you suffered so much for nothing - if it...

With only a few more days to go of my simplify challenge I am beginning to wonder whether, on monday, when I can start spending ‘as normal’ anything will have changed in my attitude towards how I use my money …
I have recently read a chapter from the recent John Ortberg book, When the game is over, it all goes back in the box, which talks about our westen obsession with stuff. I...

Run
While at Bethanie I ran a bit (and saw lots of stuff)
Now at home I am continuing to run as much as possible. For fun.
I have run for the past three days and seen some ordinary stuff:
Cars, tarmac, rubbish.
Tomorrow I hope to see some trees.

Simplify Update
Update from Sophie:
END OF WEEK ONE. REMAINING BUDGET: £0.47p
As well as aiming to live on less this month. I am being challenged about living more ethically; reducing my waste, buying locally sourced and fair-trade products, thinking about the amount of energy I use.
Click here for more details on living lightly.
Some people, in order to discover God, read books. But there is a great book: the very appearance of created things. Look above you! Look below you! Read it. God, whom you want to discover, never wrote that book with ink. Instead, He set before your eyes the things that He had made. Can you ask for a louder voice than that?
- Augustine
I would not know how to be human, how to think as a human being, how to walk as a human being, how to talk or how to eat as a human being except by learning from other human beings. I learn to be human by associating with other human beings. We are thus, according to the Bible, made for family. We’re made for community, we’re made for togetherness, we’re made for friendship....
